CCYP Ambassadors consistently raise climate change and the need to protect the environment as issues of concern for children and young people. As the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has said, “A clean, healthy and sustainable environment is both a human right itself and necessary for the full enjoyment of a broad range of children’s rights”.
When asked what they want adults to know about climate change and the environment, CCYP Ambassadors have told the Commissioner:
“I want a safe future on a healthy planet. Climate change is stopping this.”
“We need to create change now to decrease the climate or there will be no turning back!”
“We are the ones who have to fix this mess and live with it so think about us.”
During our state-wide event in 2022, CCYP Ambassadors worked alongside graphic designers to create posters on climate change and the environment. The posters are intended to raise awareness of the environmental issues worrying children and young people and spark change in our state.
