48 Young Australians Appointed to National Youth Advisory Groups!

In late 2025, we shared an exciting YEP! Opportunity called the Office for Youth 2026 Youth Advisory Groups. Led by the Australian Government’s Office for Youth, this initiative supports young people to connect directly with government and have their voices heard. 💬

We’re pleased to share that in February 2026, the Office for Youth announced the appointment of 48 young Australians, including young Tasmanians, to the 2026 Youth Advisory Groups.

The groups include both new and returning members and reflect the rich diversity of young people across Australia.

Throughout 2026, the Youth Advisory Groups will work closely with government on key national issues, including:

  • making sport safer and more welcoming for everyone
  • ensuring young people’s views shape Australia’s response to climate change
  • encouraging open conversations about mental health
  • supporting young people to respond to foreign interference, and
  • ensuring First Nations voices are heard.

Each group consists of up to 10 young people aged 16 to 24, drawn from almost every state and territory. Members bring unique perspectives shaped by their lived experiences.
