The Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People is Isabelle Crompton. Isabelle upholds, protects and promotes the rights and wellbeing of children and young people under the age of 18 in Tasmania.
The Interim Commissioner is supported by a small team of staff. Their shared work is based on collaboration, mutual respect and recognition of the unique skills and expertise of each team member.
Isabelle Crompton was appointed as Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People in October 2024.
Before this, Isabelle had worked in Office of the Commissioner since 2011, including serving as the Director from 2021.
In her role as Interim Commissioner, she draws from over two decades of experience in legal practice, advocacy, and influencing policy and law reform concerning children’s rights and wellbeing.
Isabelle has extensive experience as a youth justice and child protection lawyer and is a former member of Tasmania’s Mental Health Tribunal. Isabelle holds degrees in law and sociology from the University of Tasmania.
