The Commissioner engages with children and young people to help them have their voices included in decisions about the important issues affecting their lives.
The Commissioner runs two key engagement programs: the CCYP Ambassador Program and YEP! (Your Engagement Place), which offer regular opportunities for young Tasmanians to engage with the Commissioner and decision makers. Periodic consultations are also conducted through the Out-of-Home Care Monitoring Program with young Tasmanians in care, and through CCYP Youth Justice work with young people in contact with the justice system. The Commissioner also conducts ad hoc engagement activities to seek the views of specific groups of children and young Tasmanians as well as their support providers on an as needs basis.
