In 2017, the Big Draw invited young people from grade 7 & 8 to join contemporary artists Selena de Carvalho, Shannon Field and Sara Wright to let loose in the gallery at Contemporary Art Tasmania.
This one-day workshop of exploration, collaboration and fun resulted in one big drawing. Documentation of the day was showcased as part of the International Big Draw Festival 2018 and launched at CAT for all to see!
The Big Draw was a partnership project between CAT and the Commissioner for Children and Young People.
Today, sections of the Big Drawing hang in the office of the Commissioner for Children and Young People’s office in Hobart, and in the Executive Building, which is home to the Ministerial Office of the Minister for Arts.
