Young Tasmanians Take Action on Climate Education! 🌏

Young Tassie Climate Change-Makers Research Project Manifesto cover.

In April 2025, we shared an exciting opportunity on YEP! called the Young Tassie Climate Change-Makers Research Project. The project invited young people aged 11-16 to take part in a 6-hour workshop in Hobart or Launceston, where they could share their views on the future of climate change education in Tasmania.

Led by the University of Tasmania, the project asked young people to reflect on their experiences with climate education and work alongside key decision-makers to co-create actionable recommendations for improvement.

In total, 74 young Tasmanians took part and had their voices heard! 😲

In June 2025, participants met with the Interim Commissioner to present their Young Tassie Climate Change-Makers Manifesto, which outlined their project ideas and priorities. The Interim Commissioner was so impressed that she helped arrange for two representatives, Klara and Daisy, to share their ideas on ABC Mornings with Leon Compton.

Well done Young Tassie Climate Change-Makers! 👏
