On 29 November 2023, Commissioner McLean released her report titled: ‘A place at the Table: An investigation into a change to the case management of children and young people in care in Tasmania”.
This report presents nine findings and makes seven recommendations that call on the Tasmanian Government to ensure that the out-of-home care system in Tasmania upholds the rights of children and young people in care.
The Commissioner acknowledges with appreciation the support of the Department for Education, Children and Young People throughout her investigation.
The Commissioner also acknowledges the role that Child Safety Officers play in upholding the rights of children and young people in care. The Commissioner thanks them for their commitment in undertaking their critically important role.
